Learn More About Online Notarization & How It Works

Completing a notarization online is pretty easy, you'll just need the following:

  • The original, unsigned PDF document

    • (Please don't sign it before uploading! You must electronically sign your document in the presence of a notary public to have it notarized)

  • A computer, iPhone, or Android phone with audio and video capabilities

  • A valid government–issued photo ID. Please see acceptable forms of identification for notarization in

  • A U.S. social security number for secure identity verification

    • If you do not have a Social Security number, you may be able to pass identity verification using biometric screening.

A single document can be notarized for $25. Each additional notary seal will cost $10 but most documents only require one notary seal. Real Estate Transactions are billed differently.

Disclaimer & Things to Consider:

Remote Online Notarization works very well for simple documents. And although it is 100% Legal you may want to discuss with the receiving party if they accept electronically Notarized documents. For instance, many Title Agencies & Lenders are still not equipped to accept electronically notarized documents without prior approval due to underwriting issues.

Additionally, forms (like a car title) where the Notary Stamp must be on the original special document paper may not be accepted.

It is not the responsibility of the Notary Public to guide you on this process. You will need to first check with your receiving party.

What Are Acceptable Forms of ID for Online Notarization?

ID Acceptance Varies By State for In-Person Notarization. However, Florida Notaries Can Take the Following IDs & Notarize for Anyone, Anywhere:

  • A current State Issued Driver's License,

  • United States Passport,

  • or a Current Foreign Passport.

Important Notes on
Remote Online Notarization

How Identify is Verified using Remote Online Notarization:

You will need to upload one of the forms of identification to your order, in order to proceed. It is highly recommended for you to take a great quality photo of the identification you plan to use for your notarization prior to your session and save it on your computer.

Smartphones will aways have a better quality image than a desktop or laptop scanner (in current times). If the system is not able to clearly read your identification your session will be terminated. You will also need the ID for the duration of the session and the Notary will need to see the physical copy held up on camera.

Upon entering the session you will need to enter the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number and pass some KBA (knowledge based assessment questions). Or you may be verified through a process called BioMetrics if you do not have a United States Social Security Number & at least 5 years credit history.
